Venkata Ramana Akkaraju, new IMU Vice-Chancellor

Venkata Ramana Akkaraju has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai.

Akkaraju previously served as Chairman of the New Mangalore Port Authority from 2018 to 2025 and Chairman of the Cochin Port Authority from 2016 to 2018. He also served as Chairman of the Goa Port Authority during 2022–23.

He has also worked as Executive Chairman of Shree Tech Data Ltd, a Pune-based software company.

Akkaraju has published seven research papers in international journals and is a recognised scholar in the field of ports and shipping, according to a press release.
